TRACY
Suzanne Brockmann is my favorite author and she's miles ahead of all of my other favorite authors. She is best known for her two long standing series: Troubleshooters and Tall, Dark and Dangerous. Many of her single books, written earlier in her career, are being re-issued and this is one of those. This book was originally released in 1998 and was re-issued in 2008. I don't rush out to purchase these books, but I do pick them up whenever I run across them. They are fairly short, but that doesn't mean they are light reads. Suzanne Brockmann can spin a romance filled with troubled characters and highly emotional situations like no one else. This was a bit of a tear jerker. The hero, Liam, spent 18 months in an underground prison being tortured. The heroine, Marisala, was only 15 at the time, but she rushed the prison, rescued the hero and hid him in the jungles of the island tending his wounds while they both pretended nothing more than a friendship was blooming. Five years later they reunite and fight the fierce attraction they feel for each other. At the same time, Liam is still not emotionally recovered from his time as a prisoner. There are some poignant scenes that pull at your heart strings and have you alternately cheering and booing the actions of the characters. These characters are both flawed and as real as you can get without being flesh and blood. Fantastic read despite the short length! Beautiful ending that leaves you cheering from the rooftops.

The Last Thing I Remember by Andrew Klavan
TRACY
I took a bit of a detour from my book and read Sarra's last book "The Last Thing I Remember" by Andrew Klavan. It sounded like a really good book and she wanted to pass it to a friend, so I read it pretty quickly. The summary mentions that the main character, Charlie, wakes up to find himself strapped to a metal chair with bloody injuries and voices just outside the door that order his murder. But that's just the beginning, the story has Charlie moving from one terrible situation to another, each more exciting than the last. I found it very difficult to put the book down because I wanted to know what was going to happen next and how Charlie was going to get himself out of it. Turns out he's been missing from home for over a year and he can't remember any of it, he has a girlfriend that he didn't know about, and he's been charged with the murder of his best friend, Alex. Unfortunately the book doesn't tidy all the loose ends before ending. Charlie never reunites with his parents, he never clears his reputation and we never find out who killed Alex - was it really Charlie? or someone else? The next book in the series will hopefully clear some of this up before creating cliffhangers, but it doesn't come out until February of 2010. Sarra and I will be one of the first in line for it, you can be sure!

Nightwalker by Heather Graham
TRACY
Nightwalker by Heather Graham was a refreshingly fun read. I've read all of Heather Graham's books (except one) that she's written in the last few years and she has some hits and some misses - mostly hits. The last few I've read, including the Deadly Trilogy published late 2008, were a bit disappointing. I guess when you read dozens of books every year in same category you start to get the feeling that you're reading the same plots over and over, just different names and different places. But this book was refreshingly different - a big HIT for Heather Graham. The characters are believable and charming, including the ghostly variety of which there are several. There are murders and deaths galore, but even the dead characters aren't necessarily out of the story yet. Some come back as ghosts and join the hunt for whoever is behind all the murders. Storyline even includes a great ghost town, which is always fun. The romance between the hero and heroine is sweet and doesn't overshadow the storyline at all. I'm suddenly looking forward to reading Heather Graham's new book, Dust to Dust which just came out this month.

The Last Thing I Remember by Andrew Klavan
SARRA
The Last thing I Remember ( The first book in the Homelanders series* ) begins with Charlie, a normal seventeen year old boy, waking up to find himself strapped to a chair. He can hear men talking outside of the small room, and they have just been given orders to kill him. This is a very exciting book that keeps you sitting on the edge of your chair. There are twists and turns that take you by surprise as Charlie's life takes a turn for the worst. He thought that he had been stolen out of his bed the night before. It turns out, he can't remember the last year of his life. He escapes from near death several times throughout the whole book. The ending could have been better, but it makes you want to read the second book in the series just that much more.
* The second book in the Homelanders series is called The Long Way Home , and is released in February of 2010.

Yours Truly, Skye O'Shea by Megan Shull
SARRA
Yours Truly, Skye O'Shea is a book about going through middle school. She goes through hockey, boys, and grades. It's not one of my favorite books, and maybe not even worth reading. It really didn't interest me much at all, but I didn't really have any other book to read. If you are going through middle school, it might help, but I bet that there are better middle school books out there. I have read some of them. If I find a better middle school book I will let you know!

Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer
SARRA
I finished Breaking Dawn last night, and it is a wonderful ending to the Twilight Saga. Breaking Dawn is full of twists that you don't expect. Everyone I know who has read Breaking Dawn, says that they wish that there could be another book in the series. I honesty think that Stephenie Meyer did a great job wrapping up the series. If she tried to write a sequel to Breaking Dawn, it would just ruin the whole series; it would go on to long. In Breaking Dawn, mysteries are solved and secrets are reveled, but that just gives the book it's character. Breaking Dawn is one of the books that you could read over and over again, and each time, realize something different, that you hadn't noticed, because you were so excited to find out what happens in the end. I think that Stephenie Meyer did an excellent job on this book.

The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
SARRA
The whole Mortal Istruments series was one of the best series I have ever read. This is one of the fantasy books with lots of action, and a little bit of romance. Just the kind of books that I like. In this series, there are vampires, and werewolves, and banshees... okay, not banshees, but there are faeries, and warlocks, too. There are three books in this series, and they include: The City of Bones, The City of Ashes, and The City of Glass. As you read the series, you are entering a world of shadowhunters, and demons. At the end of the first two books, you lose faith in the characters of the book, but the last book gives you hope that all could go well in the end... until the battle. I promise you though, the books have the absolute perfect endings. There couldn't be a better ending. You won't want to miss out on this must read series.

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
SARRA
I have read the Twilight series many times, and the whole series is very well written. After I finished the series for the first time, I started to notice flaws and characters with some of the same characteristics in some of the other books I have read. Twilight gets into your head, and you start to see yourself as Bella. You fall in love with the characters as you are sucked into Bella's whole world. I have never really liked vampire books until I read this series. I have started to have a whole new look on the vampire world. When I read other vampire books, I think that the authors have written the book wrong, because the vampires are different then the ones I fell in love with in the begining. I would love to live in this world.

Introduction
SARRA
My name is Sarra, I am 12 years old and I love reading books. I like reading books about fantasy characters. I don’t really enjoy books about fantasy worlds much, and I like my books to take place on Earth. I also enjoy books with action and a little bit of romance in them. Some of my absolute favorite books in the world is the whole Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. Another one of my favorite series is The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. You know how everyone says that your not supposed to judge a book by it’s cover? Well, to be honest, I do it anyway. I like the books with covers that really grab your attention. I like a book with a cover that says, "Hey read me! I’m interesting." Anyway, I just thought that having a blog would be a good way to share with others what kind of books are really fun to read.
TRACY
Hi, I’m Tracy (Sarra’s mom) and I’m an avid reader. I enjoy suspense novels, contemporary romance, ghost stories, an occasional horror book and novels that involve American history. I don’t particularly care for fantasy fiction or chic-lit. I read quite a bit of non-fiction, but don’t review them because I don’t normally read them front to back. You might find a non-fiction review here or there, if they really strike a chord with me though. I enjoy romance and love to read about Navy Seal or special forces heroes who aren’t over-the-top Alpha males - a "real" fictional hero respects his fictional heroine and allows her to make her own decisions. Nothing kills the mood of a good story like a man trying to dominate a woman cave-man style. My favorite author is Suzanne Brockmann, but I also enjoy Heather Graham, Susan Donovan, Elizabeth Lowell, Heather Lowell (Elizabeth Lowell’s daughter), Tina Wainscott, Lori Foster, Cindy Gerard, Beverly Barton, Rebecca York, and Katherine Sutcliffe. I’m looking forward to sharing my fun with other book readers and hearing what you have to say about the books we’ve read.
